Ferry Out - Privacy Policy
Effective date: 25 October 2026 · App: Ferry Out: Harbour Puzzle (Android, package com.ferryout.game) · Applies to app version 0.9.4 and later
Ferry Out is a single-player puzzle game. You do not need an account to play. We do not ask for, and the game does not collect, your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files or precise (GPS) location. The game has no analytics or tracking of its own and we run no servers: the only data that leaves your device is handled by the Google services described below.
1. Who is responsible (data controller)
Ottran Studios, operated by Murali Dhara Sudhan Panneer Selvam (sole developer), Belgium.
- Postal address: Avenue du Roi Albert 228, 1082 Brussels, Belgium
- Email: dharasudhan@gmail.com
Contact us at that email for any question about this policy or your personal data. We do not have a Data Protection Officer (we are not required to appoint one).
2. Data stored only on your device
Your game progress (levels, stars, coins, boosters, settings, the "ads removed" status and purchase confirmation tokens) is saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. It is not uploaded to us and it is excluded from Android cloud backup. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android Settings › Apps, deletes it permanently. Because we never receive this data, we cannot see, export or restore it for you.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free game shows a banner ad, ads between levels (from level 8, at most every second level) and optional reward videos that you choose to watch. Ads are served by Google AdMob through the Google Mobile Ads SDK ("GMA Next-Gen SDK") and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) for consent. According to Google, the SDK automatically collects and shares with Google, for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention:
- Device and account identifiers: your device's Android advertising ID and the app set ID (an identifier that is the same for all apps from one developer on your device), and, where applicable, other identifiers related to accounts signed in on the device;
- IP address, which may be used to estimate your general (not precise) location;
- Interactions: app launches, taps, ad views and video views;
- Diagnostic information: app and SDK performance, such as app launch time, hang rate and energy use;
- basic device and app information needed to deliver an ad (for example device model, operating system, language and app version).
Google uses this data to select, show, limit (frequency capping) and measure ads, to prevent fraud and abuse, and - only where you allow it - to personalise ads. Google is responsible for its own processing under the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites). All data the SDK collects is encrypted in transit (TLS).
Ads in Ferry Out are restricted to content suitable for all ages (Google ad content rating "G").
Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
When you first open the game in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google's consent form asks whether you agree to the use of cookies or other local storage and of your data for personalised ads. No ad is requested before this choice has been handled. If you do not consent, Google may show non-personalised or "limited" ads, which use less data (Limited Ads may stop the advertising ID being sent).
To change or withdraw your consent at any time: open the game › Settings › Privacy options (ads consent). This button reopens Google's consent form; it appears whenever Google's consent form applies to your region. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before.
Advertising ID controls
You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in Android Settings › Privacy › Ads (the exact menu name depends on your device).
4. In-app purchases (Google Play Billing)
Optional purchases (Remove Ads, coin packs and "Keep Sailing") are sold and processed by Google Play using the Google Play Billing Library. Google Play handles payment; we never see or store your card or payment details, your name or your email. The game receives from Google Play only what it needs to deliver the purchase: the product, the purchase state and a purchase token, which is stored on your device to prevent the same purchase being delivered twice. Google's processing is covered by the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Play Terms of Service.
What a purchase changes: any purchase in the game (Remove Ads, a coin pack or Keep Sailing) switches off the banner ad and the ads between levels on that device. Optional reward videos stay available if you want to watch them for coins or an extra pier. Remove Ads can be restored after reinstalling via Settings › Restore purchases; the ad-free effect of a coin pack or Keep Sailing is stored on the device only and is not restored after reinstalling.
5. Legal bases (EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation)
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Personalised ads, and storing or reading information on your device for ads where consent is required | Your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a); ePrivacy rules), collected through Google's consent form. You can withdraw it in Settings › Privacy options. |
| Non-personalised / limited ads that fund the free game, ad frequency capping and measurement, and detecting fraud, invalid traffic and abuse | Our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) in offering the game free of charge and keeping the ad system honest. You can object (see section 7). |
| Delivering and restoring in-app purchases | Performance of a contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b)). |
| Keeping records needed by law (for example tax rules relating to sales through Google Play) | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)), where it applies. |
Your game progress stored on your device is not processed by us at all.
6. How long data is kept
- On your device: until you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
- By us: we hold no player data. If you email us, we keep the email only as long as needed to answer you and for at most 24 months, unless the law requires longer.
- By Google: according to Google's own retention policies (https://policies.google.com/technologies/retention). Google also reports purchase records to us in Google Play Console, which we may keep for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing (including the right to object at any time to processing based on legitimate interests), to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. Because the game stores your data only on your device, you can delete it yourself at any time by uninstalling the app. For ad data held by Google, the quickest route is Google's own tools (https://myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy and https://policies.google.com/privacy); you can also email us and we will help.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In Belgium this is the Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données, GBA/APD), https://www.dataprotectionauthority.be. You may also contact the authority where you live or work.
8. International transfers
Google LLC and its affiliates may process ad and purchase data outside the EEA, including in the United States. Google relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, for the United States, on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, under which Google LLC is certified. See https://policies.google.com/privacy/frameworks.
9. Children
Ferry Out is a general-audience puzzle game intended for players aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ads are limited to content rated "G". If you believe a child under 13 is using the game and data has been collected about them, contact us and we will help remove it.
10. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information or share it for purposes other than those described above.
- We do not run our own analytics, tracking or advertising servers.
- The game asks for no Android "dangerous" permissions (no location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or storage access).
11. Security
Data sent by the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google Play is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Game data on your device is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above, publish the new version at the same web address that is linked from the Google Play listing and from the game's Settings, and include the updated text in the next version of the game. If a change materially affects how your data is used, we will point it out in the game.
